The Soviets came in with no weapons, not equpied for battle. Then the Nazi's and Soviets attacked eachother, the Soviets were all killed almost instantly.

This lead to the German downfall because they ran out of ammo. 6 million russians died in this battle alone. 18 million russians total.

The US had ariborne attacks on Iwo Jima, but the underground hiding places weren't touched. The japanese waited for the americans to come, tons of marine ships were sent over. On DDAY the entire island was set on fire. The japanese were underground and the US soldiers hardly ever saw a live japanese soldier.
